Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp Granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 (12 oz) bottle Beer (lager, ale, or your favorite type)
  • 2 tbsp Melted butter (for topping)

Equipment

  • 9x5-inch loaf pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk or spatula
  • Measuring cups/spoons

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Pour in the beer and stir gently with a spatula until just combined (do not overmix; lumps are okay).
  4. Spoon the thick batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top lightly.
  5. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the top of the batter.
  6. Bake for 50-55 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Slice and serve warm with butter or honey.

Notes

  • Beer Choice: A lager or pale ale works best, but darker beers add a richer flavor.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container for 2-3 days or freeze for up to a month.
  • Variations: Add garlic powder, cheese, or herbs for extra flavor.
