Ingredients
  

  • cup 1 Unsalted butter Softened at room temperature
  • cup ½ Granulated sugar Adjust to taste
  • tsp 1 Vanilla extract Or almond extract for variation
  • cup 2 All-purpose flour Sifted
  • pinch 1 Salt Enhances flavor

Method
 

  1. Beat softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy (~3 minutes). Add vanilla and mix.
  2. Gradually fold in sifted flour and salt until just combined (avoid overmixing).
  3. Option 1: Roll dough into a log, chill for 30 minutes, then slice into rounds.
  4. Option 2: Use a piping bag to create swirls or cookie cutters for shapes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Arrange cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden.
  6. Let cookies rest on the sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  1. Chilling Dough: For firmer cookies, chill shaped dough for 15 minutes before baking.
  2. Variations: Add lemon zest, chocolate chips, or dip cooled cookies in melted chocolate.
  3. Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 1 week.
