Ingredients

  • cup 1 All-purpose flour
  • cup ½ Unsalted butter (softened)
  • cup ¼ Granulated sugar
  • tsp ½ Vanilla extract
  • pinch 1 Salt
  • tbsp 2 Powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer or whisk
  • Baking tray
  • Parchment paper
  • cookie scoop

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter & sugar: In a bowl, beat softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add vanilla & salt: Mix in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
  4. Incorporate flour: Gradually fold in the flour until a crumbly dough forms.
  5. Shape cookies: Scoop small portions (1 tbsp each), roll gently, and place on the tray (they will crumble slightly—this is normal!).
  6. Bake for 10–12 mins until edges turn golden.
  7. Cool & dust: Let them cool for 5 mins, then dust with powdered sugar (optional).

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add lemon zest or cinnamon.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Dough can be frozen for later use.
