  • 360g 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 7g 1.5 tsp Salt
  • 4g 1 tsp Instant yeast (or active dry yeast)
  • 360ml 1.5 cups Warm water (about 110°F/45°C)
  • 15ml 1 tbsp Olive oil (optional, for softer crust)
  • 5g 1 tsp Sugar (optional, to activate yeast)

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • wooden spoon
  •  loaf pan
  • oven

Method

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, and yeast.
  2. Add Water: Gradually add warm water (and sugar if using), stirring with a wooden spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Rest Dough: Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1.5–2 hours (until doubled in size).
  4. Preheat Oven: Preheat to 425°F (220°C) and lightly grease a loaf pan.
  5. Shape Dough: Transfer the dough to the pan, smoothing the top with oiled hands.
  6. Bake: Place in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and hollow when tapped.
  7. Cool: Let it rest in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • No-Knead Option: Let the dough rise overnight in the fridge for deeper flavor.
  • Variations: Add herbs, garlic powder, or seeds for extra flavor.
  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for 1 month.
