Ingredients

  • 1 French or Italian bread
  • 115g ½ cup Unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley, chopped
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ¼ tsp Black pepper
  • 25g ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ½ tsp Red chili flakes (optional)

Equipment

  • Baking sheet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Chef’s knife
  • Pastry brush (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Prepare the garlic butter: In a bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes (if using).
  3. Slice the bread: Cut the loaf in half lengthwise and place both halves on the baking sheet.
  4. Spread the butter mixture: Evenly spread the garlic butter over the cut sides of the bread.
  5. Sprinkle cheese: Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
  6. Bake: Place in the oven for 8-10 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Broil (optional): For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes (watch closely to avoid burning).
  8. Slice & serve: Cut into pieces and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of oregano or basil to the butter mixture.
  • Vegan option: Use dairy-free butter and nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days (reheat in the oven for best texture).
  • For cheesy garlic bread, add shredded mozzarella before baking.
