Ingredients

  • (240ml) 1 cup  Heavy cream
  •  (100g) ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • (56g) 4 tbsp Unsalted butter
  • (170g) 1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate (chopped)
  •  (10g) 2 tbsp Cocoa powder
  • (5ml) 1 tsp Vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp Salt

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Glass jar or airtight container (for storage)

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, heat heavy creamsugar, and butter over medium heat, stirring until the butter melts and the sugar dissolves (~3-4 minutes).
  2. Reduce heat to low and whisk in chopped chocolate and cocoa powder until completely smooth (~2-3 minutes).
  3. Stir in vanilla extract and salt. Continue cooking for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes before serving. The sauce will thicken further as it cools.
  5. Transfer to a glass jar and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. Reheat gently before use.

Notes

  • For a darker flavor: Use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
  • Thinner sauce: Add 1-2 tbsp extra cream while heating.
  • Dairy-free option: Substitute with coconut cream and vegan butter.
