A classic Marble Cake with swirls of vanilla and chocolate, perfectly moist and tender. This easy-to-make cake is a crowd-pleaser for any occasion!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups 190g All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp 5g Baking powder
  • ¼ tsp 1g Salt
  • ½ cup 115g Unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup 200g Granulated sugar
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1 tsp 5ml Vanilla extract
  • ½ cup 120ml Milk
  • 2 tbsp 15g Cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp 30ml Hot water

Equipment

  • 9x5-inch loaf pan or 8-inch round cake pan
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk/spatula
  • Electric mixer (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy (~3 mins). Add eggs (one at a time) and vanilla, mixing well.
  4. Alternately add dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  5. Take ⅓ of the batter in a separate bowl. Mix cocoa powder + hot water into it until smooth.
  6. Spoon vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the pan. Swirl gently with a knife.
  7. Bake for 40-45 mins or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in pan for 10 mins, then transfer to a wire rack.

Notes

  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for a month.
  • Variations: Add orange zest or espresso powder for extra flavor.
  • For cupcakes: Bake for 18-20 mins in a lined muffin tin.
