Ingredients

  • 7g 2 ¼ tsp Active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 240ml 1 cup Warm water (105–110°F / 40–45°C)
  • 3g ½ tsp Sugar
  • 300g 2 ½ cups All-purpose flour (plus extra for dusting)
  • 30ml 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 5g 1 tsp Salt

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups/spoons
  • Plastic wrap or kitchen towel
  • Rolling pin (optional)
  • Baking sheet or pizza stone

Method

  1. Activate Yeast: In a large bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water. Sprinkle yeast over the water and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  2. Mix Dough: Add flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir with a spoon until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead: Turn dough onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Add flour as needed to prevent sticking.
  4. First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape: Punch down dough, divide into 2 balls, and roll out on a floured surface to desired thickness.
  6. Top & Bake: Add sauce and toppings, then bake at 475°F (245°C) for 12–15 minutes until crust is golden.

Notes

  • For Crispier Crust: Preheat a pizza stone or baking sheet before baking.
  • Make-Ahead: Refrigerate dough for up to 24 hours (punch down if it over-rises).
  • Gluten-Free: Substitute 1:1 gluten-free flour blend (add 1 tsp xanthan gum).
