Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • ½ cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • ¼ tsp Salt
  • ¼ cup Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large Egg
  • ⅓ cup Milk
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 6-inch cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix melted butter, egg, milk, and vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined (do not overmix).
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  9. Serve plain or with frosting, berries, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer shelf life.
  • Variations: Add chocolate chips, lemon zest, or cocoa powder for different flavors.
  • For a layered cake: Double the recipe and use two 6-inch pans.
