Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Dried lentils/beans
  • ½ cup Long-grain white rice
  • ½ cup Dehydrated vegetables*
  • 2 tbsp Bouillon powder
  • 1 tsp Dried herbs (thyme, bay leaf)
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • ½ tsp each Salt & black pepper

Equipment

  • 1-quart mason jar with lid
  • Mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups/spoons
  • Funnel (optional)

Method
 

  1. Layer Ingredients: In a clean 1-quart jar, add ingredients in the order listed, packing each layer tightly.
  2. Seal & Decorate: Secure the lid, attach a gift tag with cooking instructions (below), and decorate with twine or fabric.
  3. Empty jar into a pot with 6 cups water or broth.
  4. Bring to a boil, then simmer 20-25 mins until lentils/rice are tender.
  5. Stir in 1 tbsp olive oil and fresh herbs (optional). Serve hot!

Notes

  • Customize: Swap rice for quinoa or add dried mushrooms for umami.
